The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is an international partnership established in 1991 to address global environmental challenges. It provides funding to developing countries for projects that promote biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable land management, international waters protection, and chemicals and waste reduction.

GEF works through grants, co-financing, and technical assistance, collaborating with international institutions, governments, NGOs, and private sector partners. Its goal is to generate measurable environmental benefits while supporting sustainable development, fostering innovative solutions, and strengthening local capacity to manage natural resources effectively across ecosystems worldwide.
